Ergonomic Workstation Guidelines

Guidelines for an Ergonomic Computer Desk and Chair:

First, define and prioritize the needs of your office with an ergonomic workstation assessment to determine what computer ergonomic articles and products need upgrading. 

• Is your computer workstation used primarily for word processing?  If so, make sure that you using a quality ergonomic keyboard tray and a good ergonomic keyboard setup like the Saitek Eclipse II.   Correct posture at the keyboard will help prevent health issues like carpal tunnel syndrome, neck stiffness and back problems.

• Center your keyboard so that the space bar is lined up with your belly button and generally the same as your elbow height

 • Wrist rests should not be used as a resting place for your wrists while typing. Wrist rests are best used as a place to "rest" your wrists between periods of typing like before and after short keystrokes.  Your upper arm can stay as relaxed as possible.
